The New York based charity Muslims Giving Back (MGB) has officially joined the Muslim American Society (MAS) as an affiliate organization. Established back in 2014, since then MGB has distributed 82 tons of groceries to New Yorkers in need, given out 50,000 meals to the homeless, collected and disbursed $350,000 to low-income families, and much more.
“MGB is a grassroot organization that is operated by a team of volunteers that are dedicated and passionate in helping others,” Mohamed Bahe, Founder and Director of MGB said. “Through its innovative charitable projects, MGB has turned into a household name in New York City and we are honored to join MAS and take our vision nationwide.”
Now that it is under the umbrella of MAS, MGB will be expanded nationwide as a way to fulfill MAS’ vision of creating a more just society to help many more people in need. MGB’s mission of serving the disadvantaged makes it a great partner in this regard. Furthermore, the Muslim American Society’s own domestic relief initiatives namely MAS Gives and Hearts 4 Humanity will now be consolidated under MGB.
“Fulfilling the needs of the underprivileged is a religious duty and a part of the prophetic model,” said Ayman Hammous, executive director of MAS. “We are happy to have MGB join us and answer the call of Allah together.”
