Khutbah Toolkit: Quick Guide

All praise is due to Allah, we seek his refuge, and ask for his forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from our own bad deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can misguide him, and whoever Allah misguides, no one can guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah Alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his messenger.

  • Marriage should be based primarily on faith and character, yet many people prioritize beauty, wealth, and lineage instead of religion.

  • When marriages fail, investigations often reveal that religiosity and Islamic guidance are missing from the home.

  • The first responsibility of parents is to raise children upon worship and obedience to Allah, especially through prayer. Thus, if the parents are not upon deen, it isn’t expected for the children to be too.

  • Desire for status, appearance, and wealth causes people to overlook what truly benefits a marriage and family.

  • Cultural racism and nationalism have replaced Islamic values in decisions about who is acceptable to marry.

  • Some parents become oppressors instead of guides by rejecting suitable spouses solely based on race or origin.

  • This rejection leads to three harmful outcomes: forced obedience, secret marriages, or unlawful relationships.

  • Severing family ties over halal marriage choices results in emotional destruction and lifelong regret.

  • The Muslim community suffers globally while also abandoning Islamic principles within its own homes.

  • True change will not occur until families return sincerely to the Qur’an and Sunnah in their daily lives.
  • Islam brings light and dignity, but cultural prejudice and ego darken its image and drive people away from its guidance.
