(12/29/19) The Muslim American Society offers its deepest condolences to the families and victims in the string of anti-Semitic attacks in recent weeks targeting our Jewish community. These attacks during the sacred Jewish holiday of Hanukah, including the most recent attack by a knife-wielding suspect at a Rabbi’s home Saturday night, are acts of hate meant to terrorize this community. We condemn these attacks in the strongest words possible, for hate has no place in our society.
“We grieve with our Jewish community today for we know the fear that hate creates in faith communities when we see acts like these. In an era where we’ve seen an increase in hate crimes, including rising Islamophobia and antisemitism, we must stand tall together in solidarity.” said Ayman Hammous the Executive Director of MAS, “these acts of terror will not make our faith communities cower. We know that our faith communities are resilient. We will bounce back stronger together.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families impacted and the Jewish community in New York. An attack on any faith community is an attack on all communities. Antisemitism, like Islamophobia, will not be tolerated in these United States of America. We urge all faith communities and centers to be vigilant and take extra precautions. Together, we will stand tall against hate.
