Khutbah Toolkit: Quick Guide
All praise is due to Allah, we seek his refuge, and ask for his forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from our own bad deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can misguide him, and whoever Allah misguides, no one can guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah Alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his messenger.
Aiming High
- The Prophet SAW advised the Sahaba to ask for things higher than this dunya
- Asking for Jannah and protection from Jahannam and for Allah SWT to be pleased with us is a much better thing to ask for
- We should be aiming high in our duaa, asking for the highest levels of Jannah
- Our houses, cars, animals, and money do not follow us into the grave
- We should always be aiming for the highest levels of iman, even in the simple things, like being in the first row in salah at the masjid
- We should be striving for the loftiest positions
Being A Servant of Allah SWT
- The best and highest position that we should aim for is being among Allah’s servants
- Worshipping Allah SWT is our life’s purpose (Surat Al-Jinn, Ayah 56)
- One of the greatest honors that the Prophet Muhammad SAW received in the Quran, which only a few other prophets received, is the title of “Allah’s servant”
- The servants of Allah SWT don’t only want to have taqwa, but they also want to be the leaders of those with taqwa
- Their aspirations are very high – this is what we should aim to be like
How to Attain Lofty Aspirations
- We will never be able to attain lofty aspirations without struggle; we must sacrifice
- The Sahaba were not only successful in worshipping Allah SWT, but they were also successful in everything they did because they had lofty aspirations in every part of life
- If you surround yourself with people who don’t have any goals or high aspirations, how do you expect to have or achieve a higher level in this life and the next? Keep good company
- Have a desire for khair (goodness) and make dua for it
- Have clean and pure intentions
- Aspire for the sake of Allah SWT alone, and have patience for His sake alone.
- We should look to the amazing prophets and Sahaba who came before us and strive to attain lofty positions like theirs by having higher aspirations. Allah SWT has given the believer both the dunya and akhirah – we can and should try to be successful in both, like Abu Bakr RA
