إن الحمد لله نحمده ونستعينه ونستغفره ونعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا ومن سيئات أعمالنا من يهده الله فلا مضل له ومن يضلل فلا هادي له..وأشهد ان لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له وأشهد أن محمداً عبده ورسوله.
All praise is due to Allah, we seek his refuge, and ask for his forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from our own bad deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can misguide him, and whoever Allah misguides, no one can guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah Alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his messenger.
How the Prophet ﷺ Changed the World

oriental historian Michael Hart. - But why? Let’s talk about how he changed the world.
- Prophet ﷺ received revelation and met with someone who held
similar ideas: Waraqah Ibn Nawfal.- Waraqah said Quraysh would reject him, but that Waraqah
would support the Prophet if he were alive - Waraqah was known to be very religious and well-respected
- Why did Quraysh not persecute Waraqah as they did the
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ? - Waraqah was in seclusion, his sacred space, worshipping Allah
but not challenging the societal status quo like the Prophet ﷺ
- Waraqah said Quraysh would reject him, but that Waraqah
Challenging Societal Norms & Status Quo
- The Prophet was an agent of change, a changer and mover of
society - He led a revolution against bad practices in society
- The establishment was fiercely against this transformational
rhetoric - The Message spoke out against injustice and inequality
- The Quran equalized people, saying all people were liable to be
punished for their crimes - The Quran encouraged people to disobey those who
commanded them to do something that would displease Allah,
contrary to the previous system that the Chiefs of Quraysh had
a divinely-appointed right to rule - In Surah Abasa, Allah told the Prophet to treat
knowledge-seekers with higher hospitality than the chiefs of
Quraysh - Change in measurement of status: The best of you is not the
most wealthy, or the highest in status, but rather the one with
the best taqwa in their heart - Profound revolution in the social structure of Quraysh, that the
slave may now eat from the same plate as his ‘owner’ - The Prophet stopped the practice of burying baby daughters, as
revealed in the Quran - Rejecting the idea that Allah gave wealth and power to people
out of love for them, and made the poor, poor to devalue them - The scale of value was based on one’s charity, service to their
community, and taqwa
Revolutionizing Economic Practices
- Speaking against the concept of Riba (usury) and encouraging
fairness in business - The idea that you should make your money in a moral, decent
way - Criticized exploitative economic practices, such as utilizing their
position as masters of Makkah to make people purchase
clothes to complete Hajj - Challenged Quraysh’s authority to make laws, saying only Allah
creates them - The trend of Quraysh being stripped of their authority resulted
in the backlash, persecution, and subjugation of the Muslims.
