Du’a for Palestine – A Valuable Effort
In times of misfortune and hardship, such as the war in Gaza and the ongoing terror that our Palestinian brothers and sisters are enduring, turning to prayer, explicitly making Du’a, is the only potent and comforting response. Du’a, is the act of supplication and heartfelt prayer to Allah. It is a deeply personal and profound way to seek comfort and guidance and pray for the better.
If the distressing situation in Gaza serves as the catalyst that pushes you to intensify your du’a, then let it be so. Let it be the trigger that reconnects you with your faith and the valuable teachings of Islam. These times of hardship for Palestinians can become moments of profound spiritual growth. Du’a is often described as the most potent weapon of a believer. It is a source of strength, hope, and resilience in hardship. During times of crisis, it becomes a beacon of light in the darkness, a lifeline that connects the heart to the Most Merciful.
Moreover, these moments of prayer are an opportunity for collective learning and growth. As a community, teaching one another how to make effective du’a is crucial. Encouraging families and communities to come together, share their experiences, and guide one another in prayer fosters unity and strength. By teaching each other the heartfelt prayer, we can collectively find comfort, resilience, and the ability to navigate the toughest challenges that Muslims worldwide are struggling with by witnessing the terror that is happening in Palestine.
Yaqeen Institute Shares Five Du’as for Palestine
Amidst the increasing tragedies, staying hopeful is tough. We often wonder why our prayers for relief and justice go unanswered. But remember, when we’re at our lowest, Allah’s help is closest.
As the Quran says in Surah al-Baqarah: “Do you think you’ll enter Paradise without facing trials like those before you did? They endured poverty and hardships, and even their messenger and his followers asked, ‘When will Allah’s help come?’ Be assured, Allah’s help is near.” (Qur’an, 2:214)
So, let’s not lose hope in Allah’s help, and let’s keep praying for the people of Palestine. Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research continuously shares information and supports Palestine.

- Dua for patience and victory for the Palestinian people
Rabbana afrigh ‘alayhim sabran wa thabbit aqdaamahum wansurhum ‘ala al-qawm al-kafireen
Our Lord! Shower them with perseverance, make their steps firm, and give them victory over the disbelieving people.
Inspired by verse 250 of Surah al-Baqarah, this du’a reminds us that Allah is always with us, penetrating our hearts with firmness and tranquility.
- Dua for the success of the Palestinians
Rabbana aatihim fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan waqihim ‘adhaab an-nar
Our Lord! Grant them the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect them from the torment of the Fire.
Our brothers and sisters in Palestine deserve nothing more than Paradise and salvation from the Fire, as described in verse 201 in Surah al-Baqarah. Watching seemingly unbearable events unfold, we should remember that all it takes is one dip in Jannah to forget the cruelty and suffocation of this world.
- Du’a for their protection
Allahumma ustur ‘awraatihim wa-aamin raw’aatihim wahfadhhum min bayni aydeehim wa min khalfihim wa ‘an aymaanihim wa ‘an shamaa’ilihim wa min fawqihim
O Allah, conceal their faults, calm their fears, and protect them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and from above them.
Taken from the morning and evening remembrances of the Prophet ﷺ, this du’a seeks Allah’s protection from every direction. It is a befitting du’a for the people of Gaza, who are surrounded by hostility and violence.
- Du’a when facing an enemy
Allahumma munzil al-kitabi saree’ al-hisabi mujriya as-sahaabi hazim al-ahzaabi ihzimhum wa-zalzilhum wansurna ‘alayhim
O Allah, the revealer of the Holy Book, and the swift in the reckoning, and the mover of the clouds, and the defeater of the clans; defeat them, and shake them, and grant us victory over them.
This du’a is inspired by a combination of du’a taken from several hadith detailing the Prophet’s supplications upon facing an enemy – an appropriate reminder of Allah’s ability to gather and bestow, hold to account, and take away.
- Du’a to strengthen their trust in Allah
Allahumma urzuqhum sidq at-tawakkuli ‘alayka wa husn ad-dhanni bik
O Allah grant them actual reliance upon You and good thoughts about You.
This is an adaptation of a du’a made by Sa’eed ibn Jubayr, a great scholar of Islam and pious predecessor. We can trust Allah and rely upon Him through good thoughts–a state we frequently see from our brothers and sisters in Gaza and one we pray.
